Sallome replied to CathrynMarie's discussion 'Networking via Digiwaxx.com'
Cathryn Marie, Just writing to hear how this (Blogging for Digiwaxx) has been going? Sounded like a great opportunity. But since I'm not a DJ, don't keep my ear to the DJ-ing world, etc, I felt it wasn't for me to reply... Sallome

Life Quote
"My existence is a rebellion." - Taina Asili
About Me:
In the spirit & tradition of my feminine blood I am a freedom fighter, nomadic warrior, gatekeeper & guide. I am an idea mogul and dream executor making sure that younger generations and those on the periphery have the opportunity to live purpose-filled lives, experiencing themselves as people who make a difference.

In the past I have been a student activist, personal development coach, a third grade teacher, a youth organization consultant, a volleyball player, a Whitney Houston listener, a host and MC, a boarding school student, a Cosby Show watcher, and a stuffed animal collector. Entities that have benefited from my expertise include: Marc Ecko Enterprises, Landmark Education, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), Hip Hop Summit Action Network, So Live! Arts Movement, WBAI – Pacifica Radio, Bucktown USA’s State of Black Manhood Tour, and the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America (N’COBRA).

Today my intention and attention has been focused on arts & social justice based education, youth leadership, and commerce as philanthropy. You can find me managing hip hop shows in New York, coordinating women’s circles and women's ciphers, developing programs for schools and youth organizations, serving as communications liaison for the spoken word duo Climbing Poetree, perfecting my jump shot at the Bed-Stuy YMCA, journaling in Fort Greene Park, racking up frequent flier miles on JetBlue to the Bay Area, updating my myspace page, or sipping Mojitos at Brooklyn’s own solar-powered Habana Outpost.

Look out for my children’s book A Little Child Shall Lead Them, my op-ed pieces in various print and on-line magazines, and shows in venues throughout New York City.

I will be touring with Climbing PoeTree (climbingpoetree.com) in the Fall of 2008 for their show "Hurricane Season" as a facilitator for their post-show solution ciphers.

Yo, where were y'all when I was coming outta college?!

Back in 2005, some sistahs and I got together to educate ourselves about how one becomes financially free. Each of us brought our own past experiences to the table and called it Sistah Cents. We met a number of times, and left each gathering with a little more info. Two of us have purchased property since, and others began paying on their debt. We looked at all the educational pieces out there (Black Enterprise, Suzie Orman, etc). And today I watched a clip I received as a myspace comment. It… Continue
