Beginning with a mere daydream, during class at FAMU, in the spring of 1996, a photographer was conceived. “Kphoto,” as he is affectionately referred to by his peers, during a moment of epiphany the idea of “entrepreneurship, potential profit, and freedom of self-expression” consumed his thoughts faster than a roll of film can be processed. With a newly obtained Samsung point and shoot camera, from the unclaimed items stash of his then, current job, a vision, and an even bigger drive for freedom and individuality, a career in professional photography was born.
Enthusiastic and surrounded by his fiancé` (now his wife), and many other supportive friends from all facets at the university level and beyond, he was equipped with the foundational information to begin what he knew would be “a relaxed, lucrative, free and artistic profession” in photography. Kphoto’s first set of developed pictures with his point and shoot camera didn’t turn out the way he had envisioned. Now armed with a set a photographs “unappealing to his eyes and Spirit of excellence” and some research on better suited professional equipment, he purchased his next camera, Nikon 6006, that would take him well on his way into the world of artistic expression.
His dream of artistic expression gave way to his company’s moniker, Phoetic, and its catch-phrase, “Embodied Perception.” Upon graduation from college, with a degree so far from the arts, him and his new bride, relocated to the Central Florida area. Not long after settling into the city life and finding a church home, Kphoto happened upon what he considered “prime studio location” in the Downtown Orlando district. A depleted savings account, a dream and drive, Phoetic Studios was delivered to its potential clients. Phoetic states, “We primarily enjoy the everyday working individual. These are the phoetic stars to us. Each client is treated as though they are the most important person in the world to us, and they are. What better location than the working-class district in the city’s largest professional arena.
Kphoto has gone from mentorship to friendship, affording him the opportunity to work with some of the biggest and the best in the field. Having collaborated several projects with many of these individuals, his work can be seen all over the U.S. in one artistic medium or another. In keeping with the current trends, having gone primarily digital, his apparatus- Fuji S2, helps him to be more creative in his artwork, allowing him to present digital media and sound viewing presentations to his clients.
Currently, kphoto, is based out of Atlanta, Georgia, but the Phoetic Gallery has been captured all over the Southeastern region. Kphoto has devoted his time and talents to traveling to many locations of “phoetic stars” on the “Experience the love, love the experience” movement; affording distant clients to be fortunate enough to preserve their memories with a talented and anointed gift to the artistic industry.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to… Continue

Before MySpace...Before Google...Shit, before email...there was Kphoto. An original player that made everyday on "The Set" of FAMU feel like the freakin' Red Carpet. (At least to those of us who were rather ARE superstars!) Thank you for helping to create the monster that I have become.
