Feeling the fresh breads as always. So true, you have to keep on your grind, swag, whatever it is you call it. "I stretched the game out, etched ya name out, put Jigga on top, to drop albums non-stop for ya, feel me?!"

From Capitalism to Community Gardens- last week in review

I was in a very bad mood last Friday. Aside from the fact that my car has been in the shop for a month, and the fact that my Condo Assoc. hasn't fixed my porch (going on 6 months) which is preventing me from either renting or selling one of my properties in Connecticut, I also had to lay another member of my team off, not due to poor performance, but strictly due to lack of business (we have laid off 110 people out of 140 since Dec.). That is not an easy thing to do. Seeing that I was in a…See More

Thank you for reaching out! I love talking about what I do. The bulk of my business is putting on training workshops for teachers, parents, and young black males. I am conducting a session for concerned parents with children in the Newark school system this weekend. We share the passion of mentorship. I went to your website, Brilliant idea!

Gaineous,
Thank you so much for your kind kind words. I am so inspired every single day about what we do at The Crew. And thank you for the props about being right up there with the boardroomboys ;-). I am honored. You are doing great work. We will work together, this I do know. There is so much for all of us to touch on this subject and change the way we look at what is now our frontier. Believe me, Gaineous when I say that together we will blaze trails. Very exciting.
Let's connect this week.

Gaineous,
I truly feel where your coming from. I am currently working on an online magazine entitled "Brothers Beyond Measure" (bymmagazine.com). The magazine's focus is on real men who balance life, work, family, and play. But the kicker is they are successful. How that success is measured is through our various keys.

I am currently developing the site. Please stop by and check it out ( remember it's still a work in progress) the site is www.bymmagazine.com. I would love to speak with you and see if we could work on something in the future.

Be well

About Me:
I am a Financier by trade. I've been working in the Finance industry for over ten years. In my day job, I am a Copporate Finance Manager. My true passion though is career development and mentoring, because I have seen 1st hand the benefits of having a good network of mentors and people one can learn from, and the downfall of how one's career can either stall or end due to the lack thereof.

My side venture is www.boardroomb-boys.com. This is a site in which I connect with individuals to pass on the lessons I've learned, answer questions and show career management lessons to be learned that are hidden within hip-hop songs. I also keep a blog showing how and what I am doing to grow the site into a self-sustaining business venture.

Success: Mission Impossible

Knowing what you are meant to do is the first step in taking control of your destiny. Defining your purpose and ensuring your actions are aligned with that purpose is the second.

Last Friday I had to drive up to Connecticut to handle some business with one of the properties my wife and I own. I had taken the day off after falling ill Wednesday night, and going to the doctor on Thursday after work when, after a quick examination, she prescribed three medications and ordered me to get… Continue

Knowing what you are meant to do.

Knowing what you are meant to do.

There is a difference between a job and a career, entrepreneurship and passion. Last Sunday, as my wife and I drove North on the Turnpike after returning from a small intimate BBQ, she turned to me and said, “I really enjoyed teaching Saturday math classes”. This was a bit of a surprise because my wife, a Program Director of Accelerated Studies, self-admittedly has loathed math her entire life. Then she stated that she saw herself in a lot of the… Continue

F@ck it, ice ya wrist and raise the price on these ni@@as- Jay-Z

This is not about bling bling, flossing or rocking ice, but there is a correlation to be made when thinking about managing your career. "F@ck it, ice ya wrist and raise the price on these ni@@as", when Jay-Z used this line in his song Money, Cash, Hoes, he was referring to stepping ones game up to a level which competition couldn't compete with. This is the mentality I've started 2009 with, as we all should. Whatever it is that you do, whatever your signature is, step your motherf@cking game… Continue

12/28/08 Birthday Wishes (Reflections of the past, visions of the future)

Today is my 32nd birthday. I haven't posted in a while. Purposely. I told myself my next post would be after the elections and once I had a clear vision of the future.

2008 has been a year of inspiration and heart aches. On Nov. 4, tears almost came to my eyes as I stoop amongst friends listening to President-Elect Barack Obama address the nation. I never believed that in my lifetime I would see a black man win the United States Presidency, but as he so often repeated "Yes we can", I… Continue
